Nico Giannoulis – Contemporary Artist
Nico Giannoulis (b. 1989 Thessaloniki, Greece) is a London-based queer contemporary artist working across drawing, photography, ceramics, printmaking, poetry, and installation. His practice explores the body as a site of freedom, desire, memory, and transformation, moving between image, object, and text. Working with both constructed and found materials. Nico produces drawings, publications, and sculptural objects that reflect on how intimacy and visibility are shaped by personal and cultural narratives. His material processes include handmade charcoal made from wood collected in Ikaria and natural fixatives based on resin, extending the work into cycles of transformation between landscape and image. Drawing from queer histories, literature, mythology, and personal experience, his work engages recurring motifs such as bodies, horizons, architectural forms, pipes, and objects of desire. These elements shift between symbolic and physical registers, exploring circulation, exposure, and the persistence of embodied experience. Nico previously studied and worked in Economics and Finance before completing Fine Art studies at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London.
